Expanding from our original vision, Father's House Ghana has grown to provide a wide range of support services throughout our community. Below are just some of the projects that we, through the support of our partners, have been able to accomplish.
The Jeremiah Project
Education is always something that has been important to us, and The Jeremiah Project is proof of that. Currently we support 25 students through local schools, as well as five girls in an apprenticeship program. We provide all of them with the supplies, lunch money, and uniforms that they need — easing the burden on their families and empowering them for the rest of their lives.
The apprenticeship program prepares girls with valuable skillsets that they can carry with them to make an honest living for themselves and for their family members. We are always trying to expand these services to more and more children in need.
In our part of Ghana, running water is fairly limited, and the lack of access to clean water lends itself to dehydration, disease, and more. In addition, those families who do seek out clean water often have to travel great distances to obtain it. Most of the families we serve did not have easy access to clean water upon our arrival, but our team has successfully completed three community wells, all within easy walking distance of our local community members.
Working primarily with local contractors, we are constantly seeking to create more opportunities for those who need clean water to get it.
Health & Wellness
Healthcare services in Ghana are restrictive, and disease rampant—especially malaria. We have a number of healthcare professionals on the ground who provide around-the-clock care for those in need. This includes the provision of netting to keep disease-spreading mosquitos at bay.
Our healthcare team also offers medical testing, access to medication, and even first aid. Our hope is that, through our community wells and our healthcare offerings, we can significantly curb the onset and spread of life-threatening diseases, and improve the quality of life for men, women, and children alike.
Small Business Support
Occasionally we are approached by men and women in the community who wish to start their own businesses to provide a better life for their families, and it is our joy to help them when we can. We have provided community support funding for several worthy enterprises, helping to bolster the local economy and encourage budding entrepreneurs. We see this as an invaluable way to provide local families with the means for self-sufficiency.
