Expanding from our original vision, Father's House Ghana has grown to provide a wide range of support services throughout our community. Below are just some of the projects that we, through the support of our partners, have been able to accomplish.
The Jeremiah Project
At Father’s House Ghana, we value education and understand the lifelong changes it can bring, not only for the student, but also for the student’s family and community. When we learned that many of our neighbors were unable to attend school simply because they could not afford uniforms or basic supplies, we launched a community education initiative called The Jeremiah Project.
What began as a sponsorship program for local students now includes early childhood development activities for preschoolers and an apprenticeship program for young ladies. We are constantly on the lookout for opportunities to empower others through education!
In our part of Ghana, running water is fairly limited, and the lack of access to clean water lends itself to dehydration, disease, and more. In addition, those families who do seek out clean water often have to travel great distances to obtain it. Most of the families we serve did not have easy access to clean water upon our arrival, but our team has successfully completed three community wells, all within easy walking distance of our local community members.
Health & Wellness
Healthcare services in Ghana are restrictive, and disease rampant—especially malaria. We have a partnered with a number of healthcare professionals on the ground who provide care for those in need. This includes the provision of netting to keep disease-spreading mosquitos at bay.
In order to meet the vast array of healthcare and other needs in our community, we have recently purchased land adjacent to Father’s House and will soon begin construction of a Wellness Center.
Small Business Support
Occasionally we are approached by men and women in the community who wish to start their own businesses to provide a better life for their families, and it is our joy to help them when we can.
We have provided community support funding for several worthy enterprises, helping to bolster the local economy and encourage budding entrepreneurs. We see this as an invaluable way to provide local families with the means for self-sufficiency.
